Austin Schaser hit a rebound basket at the buzzer as South Laurel edged Corbin in double-overtime, 77-75. The teams battled to a 67-67 tie at the end of regulation and was tied 69-69 at the end of the first overtime. Blake Sanders took charge for the Cardinals in the second overtime period while Robbie Igo and Zach Farley kept the Redhounds close. A turnover led to Corbin led to Schaser winning basket.
Sanders scored 20 points to lead the Cardinals, who is now 3-2 in district play and 8-11 overall. Igo led the Redhounds with 17 points while Kaleb Maguet added 14 points, Hunter Grubb 13 points and Kevin Goins 11 points. The loss was the first in district play for Corbin, now 3-1.
Whitley County led by as much as 17 points as the Colonels turned back Williamsburg 70-63. Michael Powers led the Colonels with 28 points while Boston Bryant added 16 points. Skylar Griffith led Williamsburg with 26 points and teammate Corey Shelton added 20 points.
In girls action, Whitley County held off Williamsburg. 68-62 as Brandi Smith led the Lady Colonels with 27 points. Corbin defeated Knox Central 52-43 as Miranda Wilson topped the scoring with 13 points.
