Tip leads Knox deputy to suspected meth dealer

A Gray man was arrested Friday night for allegedly selling methamphetamine out of a camper on Lynn Camp Hollow Road.

According to Knox County Sheriff’ Mike Smith, Deputy Mikey Ashurst was on routine patrol in the area off of south KY. 233 about 9 p.m. when several individuals approached him about the suspected drug activity.

Ashurst located 35-year-old Brandon Cox at the camper.

Smith said during the course of the investigation, Ashurst located two plastic baggies containing a substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine along with a set of scales and a several more empty baggies.

Gray was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cox was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
