Third candidate files in Whitley Sheriff’s race
Posted On 15 Jan 2010
A third candidate has joined the May Republican Primary race for sheriff, but probably not the one most people are anticipating.
Billy Rowe of Williamsburg filed early Friday afternoon in the Whitley County Clerk’s Office to run for sheriff.
He joins retired Kentucky State Police Detective Colan Harrell and former Sheriff Ancil Carter in the race.
So far incumbent Sheriff Lawrence Hodge hasn’t filed, but has indicated that he may file for re-election as early as next week.
Republican and Democratic candidates have until January 26 at 4 p.m. to file for office.

Hodge-Audits showing irregularity in funds, evidence missing, guns missing, no records kept on evidence. Illegal tax breaks for himself, he makes statements telling the media how easy it is to break into his office and it happens. No clues, evidence or leads………..inside job? Convenient way to prove missing evidence is stolen.
Carter-Inadequate leadership, didn’t fulfill campaign promise, mysterious fire at his house while he is out of town and going through a divorce. Blames faulty wiring.
Harrell-retired KSP Detective, college educated, no controversy in his records, 40 years experience.
Now who would you pick? Controversy over impeccable record????????? I think Harrell is the man, no other recourse.
