Raymond Leon “Ray” Ball, 72, of Williamsburg passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Four Seasons Nursing Home in Westland, MI.
Raymond Leon Ball was born January 9, 1946 in Goldbug, Kentucky. He was one of twelve born from the union of the late Theodore Ball and the late Helen Cleo (Rose) Ball.
He attended Airport Schools where he played basketball for the Jets.
Over the years, Raymond worked for various employers to support his family. He worked as a Crane Operator for McCloud Steel and had also been employed by Whitehead & Kale, and as a truck driver.
While living in Williamsburg, Kentucky he was the owner and operator of RB Gunshop.
Raymond enjoyed collecting die cast cars and coins. Although, he didn’t read them he had multiple magazine subscriptions and took every opportunity to enter the Publisher’s Clearing House drawings so he could hit it big. Ray loved to socialize and he had a close-knit group of friends that he would often visit with at the local eating establishments. As a young man he often liked to wrench on cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his siblings: Naomi, John, James, Jess, Enoch, Wilma, Theodore “Teddy”, and Donald Wayne.
To cherish his memory, he leaves six children: Veronica Patrick of Trenton, Tammy (Steve) Murdock of Monroe, Tonia (Paul) Nolan of Dearborn Heights, Raymond Ball Jr. of Williamsburg, and Katie (Jake) Cooley of Jacksonville, NC and Ashley (Melton) Sulfridge; his fourteen grandchildren: Donny, Scott, Josh, Mariah, Erica, Jarrett, Aubree, Jacqueline, Joshua, Elijah, Emma, Sierra, Payton, Raegan and Justin; and eleven great grandchildren, including: Lawson, Hayden, Alijoy, Jordan, Jimmy, Ellie, Lyric, Nate and Mike; two brothers: Arnold Ball and Carl Ball; and one sister: Betty Fritz.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Following the service he was laid to rest in the Ball Family Cemetery.
