The University of the Cumberlands Patriots men’s basketball team traveled to Frankfort Sunday afternoon to take on Georgetown College in the finals of this year’s Mid-South Conference tournament.
Both squads had one win over the other coming into Sunday’s MSC title game, so there was no clear cut favorite to win this rubber match, especially with it being contested on a neutral floor.
In the end, Georgetown was able to secure a 79-69 win to become Mid-South Conference champions in 2016. Both teams will advance on to the NAIA national championship tournament later this month, however. The conference champion Tigers will be coming in with an overall record of 28-4. The Patriots will be coming in at 22-11.
