Georgia man injured in tractor-trailer accident on I-75 Tuesday

Date:

A Dalton, Georgia truck driver was injured after he overturned his tractor trailer on I-75 in Whitley County early Tuesday morning.

I-75 near the 20-mile marker.

Mitchell determined through his investigation that Melvin E. Meadows, 74, was operating a 2011 International tractor trailer north on I-75 when he lost control leaving the roadway and overturning in the median on the driver’s side.

Meadows was transported to Baptist Health Corbin where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, Public Information Officer Steven Douglas said in a release.

Meadows was carrying rolls of carpet that had to be manually off loaded before the tractor trailer could be flipped upright.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash. Meadows was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Mitchell is continuing the investigation and was assisted at the scene by other officers from Kentucky State Police Vehicle Enforcement, members of the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department and the Kentucky State Highway Department.
