Gary “Boo” Leach, 66, of Newcomb, TN passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at his home.

He was born February 6, 1953 in Oneida, TN.

Boo was the Vice Commander for the American Legion Post 154, the Captain and Chaplain of the American Legion Honor Guard. He was a member of the Jellico Masonic Lodge # 527 F & AM where he held several offices, most recently as Chaplain.

He was also a member of the Kerbela Shriners. Boo was a deacon, teacher, worker, van driver and a child of God.

Boo was preceded in death by his father: James Leach, Jr.; mother, June Lowe Leach Rutherford; brothers, Michael Leach, Larry Leach.

He is survived by his wife, Delphia “Gertie” Leach; daughter, Joni Hatmaker and husband Shawn; sons, Darrell Whitaker and wife Kella, Donnie Whitaker and wife Donna, Danny Whitaker; grandchildren, Krista and husband Kevin, Kara and husband Blake, Keelie, Roman, Eli; great grandchildren, Beckham and Adalyn; brothers, Ronnie Leach, Rodney “Bud” Leach and wife Brenda; sister, Brenda Foley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 16 at the Jellico Church of God Mountain Assembly with Rev. Jacob Cochran, Rev. Adam Hunley and Rev. Steve Morgan officiating.

Military honors were presented by the American Legion Honor Guard. A Masonic service was performed by the Jellico Lodge #527 F & AM.

Burial was held Tuesday, September 17, in the Douglas Cemetery (Wooldridge Community).

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Legion Honor Guard.

Harp Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of arrangements.
