Bragging rights for who has the best Christmas decorations in Williamsburg have been determined, and for the second consecutive year there is a new best decorated neighborhood in Williamsburg.
The winners of the 21st Annual Williamsburg Christmas Decorating Contest have been announced as well as the Williamsburg Feels Like Home Christmas parade winners.
“I want to thank all the judges for their time and effort in what was not an easy job! So many great decorations and floats this year. Thanks to all that participated as well. I know how much work it takes. Our city is beautiful lit up!” said Williamsburg Mayor Roddy Harrison.
Decorating Contest
In the residential division, Ridge Avenue & South Third Street (connecting streets between Denham Addition) is the new winner for Best Neighborhood knocking off the last year’s winner, Sunshine Valley. Denham Addition previously held the title for three consecutive years.
In the residential traditional category, Sarah Beth and Noah Ingle of 10th Street won the award for the third consecutive year.
Melissa Foley of South Third Street took home the award in the modern traditional category for the second consecutive year.
Ancil and Betty Collett of South Fifth Street won the award for best entryway.
This year’s Spirit of Christmas award went to Greg and Darlene Hays of John Street.
Tammie Ridner of Reservoir Road won the residential bling bling category this year – think National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Greg and Darlene Hayes of John Street and Randy and Carol Ball of Main Street tied for the award last year.
Penny Strunk of Mt. Morgan Apartments won the Best Door award.
Jill West of South Third Street won the Best Theme award.
In the business division best window décor category, The Face Lab took home the second place award last year. This year they moved up to first place followed by the Williamsburg Flower Shop in second place. Associates in Eyecare took home the third place spot for the second year in a row.
The Friendship Center took first place honors in the business outdoor décor category. The Whitley County Board of Education took second place and Gene Siler Law Office took third place this year swapping places from last year.
Southern Tease, which took first place honors in the business outdoor décor category last year, took home overall best theme winner this year.
Parade Float Contest
Winners have also been announced for best floats in this year’s parade.
In the school category, for the second consecutive year, the Williamsburg City School FFA won first place, followed by Whitley County High School in second place. Williamsburg City School PTO took third place honors.
In the business category, Walmart moved up one spot this year to take first place. It was followed by Bo’s Tows in second place and Whitley County Master Gardeners in third place.
In the church category, Grace Christian won first place with Mount Ash Baptist Church taking second place and Jellico Creek Baptist Church finishing in third place. Last year Jellico Creek won the category.
Mike’s Barber Shop and Jason Wilson, Jailer took home honorable mention awards.
