Cumberland Falls voted top ‘hidden gem picnic spot’ in Kentucky

Date:

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park has been voted as the top “hidden gem picnic spot” in Kentucky.

July is National Picnic Month, and the United States is teeming with incredible picnic spots perfect for summer. Iconic locations like Central Park in New York City offer lush greenery, scenic views, and vibrant city energy, from the Great Lawn to Sheep Meadow. Similarly, Golden Gate Park in San Francisco boasts diverse and beautiful picnic areas, such as the Conservatory of Flowers, Stow Lake, and the meadows near the de Young Museum.

However, beyond these well-known destinations, there are hidden gem spots that only locals know about. Mixbook.com commissioned a survey involving 3,000 respondents to uncover and rank the ultimate off-the-radar picnic spots across America.

“These lesser-known locations, cherished for their tranquility and natural beauty, offer the perfect escape from the crowds and noise of more frequented areas. Nestled in remote mountains, hidden within dense forests, or beside scenic lakes, these top-rated spots promise a peaceful retreat where you can truly connect with nature,” Mixbook.com wrote on its website.

At the top of that national list is Leu Gardens in Orlando, Florida, with Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tennessee, coming in second place.

Not too far behind though is Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in Whitley County, which ranks eighth on the list nationally in addition to being the highest ranked park in Kentucky on the list.

Cumberlands Falls State Resort Park is home to the iconic 125-foot waterfall, which is one of only of two places in the world where you can see a regularly occurring moonbow, which is a rainbow at night.

“Famous for its impressive waterfall, Cumberland Falls also has hidden picnic areas along its trails. The park’s scenic beauty and tranquil atmosphere make it a perfect picnic spot,” Mixbook.com wrote in a release.
