The Corbin Independent Board of Education has purchased property on Barbourville Street, which will be utilized for parking.
The board purchased the property from Flossie Lorraine Evans, Leonard Lee Evans and Patricia Lynn Evans for $100,000, according to the property deed, which was filed with the Whitley County Clerk’s Office on April 30.
The property is located on Barbourville Street across the street from the high school football stadium.
“We are going to use it for parking. It is next door to the annex we already own,” said Corbin Superintendent Dave Cox.
Cox noted property taxes are collected at the annex office and parking is needed for that. In addition, it will be used for parking for the football stadium.
Cox added that because the property was so close to the annex office, the school district didn’t want to miss the opportunity to purchase it when it became available.
