The Redhound Varsity Club is proud to announce the 2025 inductees into the Corbin High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class. This year’s inductees include:
Sarah Ashley is fondly remembered as one of the best all-around basketball players to ever suit up for the Lady Redhounds. Splitting a dual role as a guard/forward, Sarah helped guide the Lady Redhounds to back-to-back 13th Region titles and consecutive trips to the Sweet 16 at E.A. Diddle Arena. Last week, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association made a pair of major announcements that have caught the attention of sports fans across the Commonwealth.
Last Wednesday, Sept. 17, the KHSAA announced that the Board of Control had voted, 13-5, to adopt a shot clock for boys and girls varsity basketball starting with the 2027-28 season. This vote took place at the board’s second regularly scheduled meeting of the current academic year.
“Thirty-two state associations throughout the country currently use a shot clock in some manner, and Kentucky will implement the use of a 35-second shot clock in two years,” stated a release sent out by the KHSAA.
The release also went...
The WCHS Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2025 includes the following players and team:
Chris Manus was one of the best all-around players to ever suit up for a Colonel baseball team. In 1987, despite being only an eigth grader, Chris made an immediate impact for the Colonels as both a dominant pitcher and all-around player. That season, he led the team in wins on the mound while batting over .400, earning Rookie of the Year honors, a spot on the All-50th District Team, and Team MVP.
Chris continued that early success throughout his high school career. As a sophomore, he was named to both the 50th District First Team...
Earlier this school year, the Whitley County, Williamsburg and Corbin school systems all voted to approve swimming as a sanctioned elementary school sport. This past Saturday, a championship meet held at the Corbin City Pool marked the culmination of the inaugural elementary swim season. It also served as an encouraging sign for the future of the sport in the local community.
The Corbin Elementary swimmers were crowned the champions of Saturday’s meet, but truly, all who participated should be considered winners as they were able to take part in a history-making event that came as a result of many years of hard work from several dedicated supporters.
Among those who have...

As a sophomore, Abbey averaged 12 points and 4 assists a game. Her junior season, she set the single season assist record of 168, while dishing out a single game record of 14 assists in a district win over South Laurel. Her senior season was one...

This is year number two of e-sports at Corbin High School, correct?
Yes.
Were you on the inaugural team as an eighth grader?
No.
People are getting more used to e-sports in our area, but it is still very much a new thing. What would you like to say about e-sports competition to anyone who might be curious?

Did you know that you were being considered for Athlete of the Year?

Winning a medal may be the ultimate goal when it comes to competing in a state championship wrestling tournament, but in the case of this past Saturday’s first-ever Kentucky High School Athletic Association girls state championships, the bigger, and more important, victory had already been won before anyone even stepped foot inside Lexington’s Alltech Arena.
For several years, girls competing in high school wrestling in the state of Kentucky have had to rely on coaches organizing their own special events in order to have the opportunity to compete against other females for state championship titles.
Not anymore.
This year, for the first time ever, the KHSAA held its own sanctioned girls state...
