Breaking News: WCHS Boy’s Basketball Coach Mark White no longer with the team

Date:

Despite starting the season with a 2-0 record, Whitley County High School Head Boy’s Basketball Coach Mark White is no longer with the team.

Whitley County Athletic Director Bryan Stewart sent a press release Wednesday evening making the announcement.

Assistant Coach Austin Horn has been named interim head coach effective immediately, according to the release.

“Horn will be replacing Coach Mark White who will no longer be working with the program,” the release stated.

White was only in his second season as Colonel’s head coach.

The 2019-2020 campaign started well enough for the Colonels, who won their first three games of the season before losing a number of players. At one point the team was down to six players last season.

The team lost 16 or their last 17 games for an overall record of 4-16 during the 2019-2020 season.

The 2019-2020 season ended with a first round loss to Corbin High School in the first round of the  50th District Tournament by a score of 68-90.

The number of players is back up for this year’s team which was composed of two seniors, five juniors, five sophomores, and six freshmen as of about one week ago.
