Baptist Health Corbin celebrates nursing excellence

Date:

Baptist Health Corbin has announced continued growth and participation in its Inter-Professional Advancement Ladder for Nursing, a program designed to foster excellence, leadership, and professional development among nurses.

The Inter-Professional Advancement Ladder, reviewed and approved by both the Nursing Leadership Council and the Shared Governance Council, was developed using principles of evidence-based practice to provide professional nurses with a clear and structured pathway for growth in clinical practice.

The program is built around key goals that include:

  • Promoting the use of evidence-based practice in daily patient care.
  • Encouraging active participation in professional and leadership activities within the hospital and community.
  • Recognizing and rewarding excellence in nursing practice.
  • Fostering collaboration among all healthcare disciplines.
  • Empowering nurses as leaders in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Enhancing job satisfaction and staff retention.
  • Supporting mentorship, education, and professional advancement.
  • Promoting a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff alike.

Nurses at Baptist Health Corbin are invited to apply twice a year for advancement and recognition through this program. Each application is reviewed by a designated committee, which evaluates submissions and assigns scores based on established criteria.

This year marks the largest group of nurses participating in the Inter-Professional Advancement Ladder since the program’s inception in 2017 — a reflection of the ongoing commitment, professionalism, and excellence of Baptist Health Corbin’s nursing team.

“Our nurses are the heart of patient care,” said Sherrie Mays, Chief Nursing Officer at Baptist Health Corbin. “The Inter-Professional Advancement Ladder not only recognizes their expertise and dedication but also empowers them to continue growing as leaders in their profession. This program is a powerful way to celebrate the exceptional care our nurses provide every day.”

Baptist Health Corbin extends its gratitude and congratulations to all nurses who continue to advance their practice and strengthen the hospital’s mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to every patient, every time.

Baptist Health Corbin is a 273-bed, acute care facility providing a wide variety of healthcare services to residents of Whitley, Knox, Laurel, Bell, Clay, Harlan and McCreary counties in Kentucky and Campbell County in Tennessee.
