The Corbin Redhounds’ 2024-25 season came to a close Wednesday night after they fell to a hot-shooting North Laurel Jaguars team, 66-41, in the opening round of this year’s 13th Region championship tournament.
The Jags sunk 11 three-point baskets on the night, with senior Kole Jervis accounting for six of those on his own. Teammate Jordan Rawlings hit three from behind the arc, and Cooper Elza hit the other two long-range shots.
Meanwhile, Corbin struggled to get into any sort of an offensive groove. A gutsy performance by senior Connor Middleton resulted in him leading the team in scoring with ten points, but most of the Hounds’ shots ended up missing the mark, as they finished the night with just 15 field goals on 47 tries. By comparison, North Laurel went 27-for-52.
With the loss, the Redhounds finish up the season with an overall win-loss record of 19-11. They will say goodbye to seniors Middleton, Conner Blackburn and Zach Reynolds, but Head Coach Tony Pietrowski will welcome his leading scorer, current freshman Ryder Akins, back to the lineup next season. Leading rebounder Eli Pietrowski will also be back for his senior year, and another very promising young talent, Dawson Farmer, will be returning as a sophomore.
