A Lexington woman remains incarcerated in the Whitley County Detention Center after allegedly shoplifting from the Williamsburg Walmart and leading police on a vehicle pursuit that reached a speed of 100 mph before ending just inside Tennessee.
A Whitley Circuit Judge agreed Monday afternoon to postpone the Jan. 13 trial of a Williamsburg man, who is charged with murder in the 2015 death of his former stepfather, in part because autopsy results showed that the victim died of natural causes.
A special judge has ruled that trials against a Corbin man — accused of advertising on the popular website Topix to hire a hit man to kill someone in 2013, and for intimidating the former prosecutor in the case — will be moved to another county due to pre-trial publicity.
A local woman is suing the Whitley County Detention Center and various other entities and individuals claiming she was denied proper medical care while an inmate at the facility in late 2014 and early 2015.
