Corbin sixth grade wins KBA State Tournament

2013 KBA State 6th Grade Champions

Coach Jimmy Hendrickson's sixth grade Redhounds defeated Lebanon-Marion County, 52-47 Sunday to win the 2013 KBA State Championship in Lexington. Corbin started as one of 58 teams and battled their way to the state championship game, winning six games in three days.

Corbin opened the tournament, routing Eastside, 42-5 Friday night. Saturday they turned back Emmalena of Knott County, 48-43 to win their pool. They followed that with a 51-28 win over Pulaski Southern then beat Elliott County 51-39. Last year Corbin lost to Jefferson County Tradional Middle School, but the Redhounds got revenge winning 43-42 on a last-second shot.

Corbin downed North Laurel in the state semifinals then took down Lebanion in the championship game. Look for more details and information about each game in Wednesday's News Journal.
