Man arrested for allegedly raping his girlfriend
James D. Wiggins
A Lily man has been arrested on a Whitley County warrant in which he is accused of raping his girlfriend.
James D. Wiggins, 47, was arrested Tuesday night at the residence in Corbin where the rape allegedly took place.
According to the arrest warrant issued Monday and signed by District Court Judge Cathy Prewitt, Wiggins was at the residence about 10 a.m. Sunday. The warrant identifies it as his apartment. However, the arrest citation states that he lives in Lily.
The warrant goes on the state that at some point, Wiggins allegedly carried the victim to the bedroom, pushed her onto the bed, removed her clothing and forced her to have sex.
“The victim reported pleading with the offender to stop and repeatedly told him to stop,” Corbin Police Det. Sgt. Rusty Hedrick stated in the warrant.
Corbin Police went to the apartment on Tuesday night where they served the warrant and took Wiggins into custody.
Wiggins was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. He was released Wednesday morning on a $50,000 cash bond.
No court date has been set in the case.
