The Fine Arts Association of Southeastern Kentucky, Inc. presents Mark O’Connor and Friends: An Appalachian Christmas, Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in London, Ky.
Mark O’Connor is an American bluegrass, jazz and country fiddler, composer and music teacher. O’Connor’s music is wide-ranging, critically acclaimed, and he has received numerous awards for both his playing and his composition. His many honors include two Grammy awards, seven CMA awards, seven National & Grand Master fiddling champion- ships, and two National Guitar Championships — just to name a few.
Mark O’Connor’s “An Appalachian Christmas” album features collaborations with James Taylor, Alison Krauss, Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Thile, Renee Flemming and was chosen by the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times as the top album of the 2011 holiday season. “An Appalachian Christmas” also made the top 15 on Billboard’s Classical Album Chart, Crossover Chart and Bluegrass Album.
Individual tickets for the show can be purchased for $25 at the door. Students can purchase tickets for $10.
